Photographic Qualifications
Qualifications are an important part of a professional photographers business. Arguably they are as important as any other part of his or her business.
Qualifications in the photographic industry have tended in the past to be geared towards the technical side of photography (this is still what is taught today in Colleges and Universities around the country) and whilst a technical knowledge of photography is important, there are so many more aspects to a photographer than purely technical skill.
The National Photographic Society offers its members a number of qualifications. These range from the entry level Diploma through to the higher levels of Licentiate and Master Of Photography.
Qualifications can offer a number of benefits to member photographers such as:-
- An increase in self-esteem.
- Demonstrating to customers and potential customers that you are committed to furthering yourself.
- Marketing potential
- Showing potential employees the skill and competence you have.
- And more.....
The National Photographic Society do not charge for the Diploma qualification. The Licentiate and higher qualifications attract a small charge due to the time that the panel judges spend to assess them.
With the exception of Diploma and Licentiate, all panel submissions must be printed and mounted, further details are available on request.
If you are a member of The NPS and wish to submit your photographs for assessment for assessment then please visit our qualifications page. Please note that no more than 3 images from any one event may be submitted in the panel.
